Julia Fisher talks to Miriam Chernasov – She is about to become a missionary in Uganda. Why is that unusual you ask … well, Miriam is from Israel and missionaries last went out from Israel 2000 years ago when the early church came into being! We met on the beachfront in Netanya, a city close to Tel Aviv, on a very windy afternoon. After coming to live in Israel from the Ukraine when she was just 6 years old, Miriam has been through school, the army and university where she qualified as a kindergarten teacher. I started by asking her to describe when and how she came to realise she wanted to be involved in mission.
Our aim is to build bridges… To build bridges of understanding and support, in a spirit of reconciliation, between believers (both Jewish and Arab) in the Holy Land (Israel and the Palestinian Areas) and Christians worldwide.
