Julia Fisher talks to Jonathan Miles – Today I’m at the Sheba Medical Centre in Tel Aviv, on an emergency surgery ward for children with congenital heart disease and with me is Jonathan Miles, the founder and director of Shevet Achim – the organisation that for the past 24 years has been bringing children, often new born babies, from neighbouring Arab countries into Israel for life saving heart surgery. We first met a grandmother from Gaza who was sitting by the bedside of her tiny baby granddaughter – Jonathan takes up their story.
Our aim is to build bridges… To build bridges of understanding and support, in a spirit of reconciliation, between believers (both Jewish and Arab) in the Holy Land (Israel and the Palestinian Areas) and Christians worldwide.
