Julia Fisher talks to Naeem Barhoum – I was in Tiberias to see the work of an organisation called Israel Firstfruits that was founded a few years ago by a Jewish believer called Mordechai Wiseman. The aim of Israel Firstfruits is to encourage young believers in the land to have the courage to step out in business in order to support the growing number of congregations, where many of the people are struggling to make ends meet. This is because Israel’s population includes many immigrants from other countries and it takes a while for them to find their feet, learn the language and find a job. Israel is a very expensive country with a high cost of living – and poverty is a huge problem. Naeem Barhoum is an Arab Christian who was born and grew up in northern Israel. He works alongside Mordechai in mentoring young entrepreneurs … listen now as he shares his story.
Our aim is to build bridges… To build bridges of understanding and support, in a spirit of reconciliation, between believers (both Jewish and Arab) in the Holy Land (Israel and the Palestinian Areas) and Christians worldwide.
