Julia Fisher talks to Ofer Amitai – Today finds us in Jerusalem talking to a Messianic Jewish pastor called Ofer Amitai. In this interview we explore the questions of whether or not God has a role for Gentile Christians, who live outside of Israel, with what is going on there today. Whilst there are a growing number of Messianic congregations in Israel, the numbers of believers is still relatively small – just a few thousand. But, they have to deal with a great deal attention from Christians around the world who are keen to meet them and hear what is going on amongst them! So Ofer, as a pastor, has to care for the people in his congregation and at the same time deal with all the people who come knocking on his door from outside the country! And as well as caring for his congregation, he writes regular letters to these people with prayer pointers, one of the most recent letters was on the subject of persistence in prayer. I put it to him – how does he cope with so much pressure?
Our aim is to build bridges… To build bridges of understanding and support, in a spirit of reconciliation, between believers (both Jewish and Arab) in the Holy Land (Israel and the Palestinian Areas) and Christians worldwide.
