Julia Fisher talks to Yousef Dakwar – Can there ever be peace in the Middle East? Yousef Dakwar is an Arab Christian who lives in Haifa in northern Israel. He can trace his family back generations. They lived in a village in northern Israel that no longer exists because it was destroyed in 1948. But Yousef is not bitter or seeking revenge. Rather he has discovered that forgiveness and reconciliation are the way forward. Today he is the pastor of an Arab church in Haifa, and the founder and director of Cross Media Productions which broadcasts programmes about the Bible and the Christian way of life in Arabic on both TV and radio. I visited Yousef at his studios in Haifa and in this, the first of two programmes with Yousef, we hear about his early life.
Our aim is to build bridges… To build bridges of understanding and support, in a spirit of reconciliation, between believers (both Jewish and Arab) in the Holy Land (Israel and the Palestinian Areas) and Christians worldwide.
