OT162 – Helping at Shevet Achim – Kristina Kayser with Julia Fisher 1 of 3

Sep 5, 2013

Julia Fisher talks to Kristina Kayser – It’s always interesting to find out why people do what they do, especially when they have moved way out of their comfort zone! Shevet Achim is a Christian organisation based in the Middle East that arranges for children with serious heart defects from Arab and Palestinian backgrounds to receive life saving medical treatment in Israel. I visited their centre in Jerusalem recently and met Kristina Kayser, a nurse from America, who came to Jerusalem looking for work as a volunteer. Little did she realise what she was letting herself in for when she offered to help at Shevet Achim as she now explains.

Our aim is to build bridges… To build bridges of understanding and support, in a spirit of reconciliation, between believers (both Jewish and Arab) in the Holy Land (Israel and the Palestinian Areas) and Christians worldwide.
