Julia Fisher talks to Michael Relf. His parents moved from New Zealand to Israel some years ago now and Michael was born and grew up there. On finishing school, he could have opted to leave the country and settle in New Zealand where he could have enjoyed a peaceful and comfortable life. Instead, he opted to stay in Israel and serve in the army. As you will hear this proved to be a challenging and life changing experience for him. In this interview, Michael, who is quietly spoken and self effacing, shares his story and describes the work he is now involved in helping young soldiers serving in the IDF, the Israel Defence Force – both Jewish and Arab young people.
Our aim is to build bridges… To build bridges of understanding and support, in a spirit of reconciliation, between believers (both Jewish and Arab) in the Holy Land (Israel and the Palestinian Areas) and Christians worldwide.
